Kent Skipper, MD, founded Solutions for Trauma and Surgery, LLC (STS Surgeons) in January 2017 with the goal of using his expertise in clinical and operational leadership to build quality Trauma and Acute Care Surgery programs for hospitals and hospital systems. Dr. Skipper focuses on what matters, with a dedication to recruiting highly qualified surgeons and employing proven management processes to deliver surgical programs that can become a center of excellence. The results are programs that work better for patients, clinicians, and hospitals.
Dr. Skipper was one of the founding surgeons of the innovative Acute Surgical Care Specialists (ASCS), which became EmCare Acute Care Surgery and is now Envision Surgical Services. Dr. Skipper was Director of Medical Operations and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at ASCS and continued as CMO at EmCare. He participated both clinically and administratively in the development of over 20 designated Trauma programs.
He and his team at STS Surgeons recognized the need for a different approach to providing a Trauma or Surgical service line for hospitals. The company’s vision and industry-leading capabilities in stabilizing hospital emergency surgical services have never been more relevant or more crucial than today. Dr. Skipper graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center - School of Medicine. He is experienced in Trauma/Critical Care and is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery. He is skilled in healthcare consulting, medical education, strategic planning, marketing strategy, and overall hospital quality.
Dr. Skipper’s more than 25 years of professional administrative expertise includes helping hospitals achieve trauma designation, turning around lagging programs, implementing quality measures, and ensuring accountability in a way that delivers overall improvements. He has also been directly involved in the development, recruiting, and implementation of three Trauma Orthopaedic programs, two of which were at ACS verified Level II trauma centers.
